Spiritual Practice: Prayer and Study

Erev Shabbat in Astoria - 3rd Friday of each month

At Astoria First Presbyterian23-35 Broadway (at Crescent St.), AstoriaNY.
(Separate entrance on ground floor of an apartment building- don't look for a church-like edifice.)

6:30pm Renewal-inspired service and Torah study led by Rabbi Goldenberg and Kris Wettstein.
We begin with a short period of meditation, led by meditation instructor Emily Herzlin. Then we move into spirited chant, prayer and singing with piano and guitar, puncutated with contemplative moments. We also spend some time discussing a theme from the weekly Torah portion. No Hebrew literacy is necessary! All Hebrew is transliterated, and many of our prayers are in English.

Kids are welcome to be in the sanctuary, or when they get "utsy" we have a separate space for them to hang out with parental supervision. If you are coming with kids, we suggest bringing a snack and a quiet activity.

8:30pm Vegetarian Shabbat Meal, cooked up by Jim Talbott, Rabbi G.'s husband.

Registration is required to determine how much food to cook and to cover our expenses.
